Juniors are very welcome at Charnwood from an early age – our youngest member is 6 and go up to age 17. We cater for young players from beginner through to regular players with a handicap, at a pace that suits each youngster. High quality coaching at the club and at the Charnwood golf range provides players with the opportunity to have fun whilst learning the skills of golf and to get on to the golf course and experience what it is like to play the game. After our coaching sessions our juniors enjoy ordering chips and snacks in the clubhouse with their own member payment card. Coaching and competitions take place mostly on Sunday afternoons throughout the season and competitions open for more experienced U18 golfers. Parents and other family members are welcome to use our relaxing and friendly clubhouse whilst their children are enjoying the sessions or playing the course.
New for 2024/25 is the Junior Academy Membership category. Contact Mark Lawrence for more details, manager@charnwoodforestgolfclub.com, 01509 890259.
The Club supports the development of juniors in partnership with the Golf Foundation. Lessons are available from our PGA Pro Simon Sherratt. Juniors also join group lessons at Charnwood Golf Range in Loughborough.
The junior section most commonly gets together as a group and plays on Sunday afternoons. This is both for competitions and also to have friendly games. Juniors are welcome to play the course at any time just like adult members for social golf. Activities take place throughout the year with a greater quantity between April and September.
In addition the club encourages juniors to take part in events run at other clubs such as Open competitions (some clubs offer beginners events too) and also county/ representative level. A number of our juniors have enjoyed success at representative level.
