Founded in 1890, Charnwood Forest Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Leicestershire and is one of the best nine-hole courses in England. Whether you are looking to join a golf club, or to play as a visitor, you are sure of a warm welcome from the members and staff at Charnwood Forest Golf Club.
Our course is set amongst the ancient Hanging Stone Rocks and is surrounded by the picturesque scenery of Charnwood Forest. The original layout was designed by legendary golf architect James Braid, whose vision was to make full use of the natural environment to create a golfing challenge. Although there are no bunkers, the design makes full use of the natural contours, alongside a variety of hazards, such as rocks, heather, gorse, bracken and stone walls. Since 1890, the course has undergone many changes, but there has been no deviation from Braid’s original vision of heathland golf.
The course is measured at just under 6,000 yards for men and 5,300 yards for ladies, with pars of 69 and 71, respectively. There are nine high quality and memorable holes, with fast and true greens, but which often featuring subtle borrows. To make up the 18- hole format, each hole is played from different tee positions for the front and back nines, which change both the angle and the distance of the tee shot.
If you want a golfing challenge, set in beautiful countryside, then come and try our unique course.
