Charnwood Forest

Course

Since 1890 our heathland course has made full use of the beautiful natural environment and through influences, such as James Braid, has evolved into not only a superb and challenging golf course, but also one of the areas most rewarding and picturesque landscapes.

The course is primarily heathland and is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) by Natural England because of its variety of habitat, flora and fauna. Perhaps the most unique feature of the course is that it is built amongst the ancient and visually stunning Hanging Stone Rocks, dating back to some 620 million years.

The course is measured at just less than 6125 yards for men and 5435 yards for women with a par of 69 and 71 respectively. The 18 hole layout is achieved over 9 fairways and greens but with 18 tees providing a different experience for the second 9 holes. You can expect to enjoy a wide range of carefully created challenges including beautiful elevated tee positions and blind shots over the natural hilly fairways, leading to superb greens designed to test your golfing skills.

With its heathland terrain, height above sea level and natural slopes, this is a truely all year round golf course that is rarely affected by adverse weather, it is very rare for it to be closed for anything other than snow.
